The School Adoption Program is a DCPS initiative launched in 2015 by the Department of School Partnerships (SPD) at the Family and Public Engagement Office. This program provides a structured pathway for partnership between DCPS schools and our support community. This program is designed for business and community organizations interested in building relationships with schools that support student success for at least one academic year. During this cooperation, partners and schools will work together to determine how partner resources and interests can best be combined with the individual needs of the school. This relationship is a collective effort led by the school and the partner and supported by the SPD. To learn more about the program, review the full list of existing partnerships and review key resources, visit www.dcpsadoptaschool.org Participating schools and partners are associated each year and receive support throughout the school year to keep the relationship on track. Schools and interested partners need to develop an application process that will then be used to coordinate partnerships on the basis of common interests and objectives. Once coordinated, schools and partners will be expected to work together to meet the program requirements outlined below.
